This isn't a command but it is a great example which should be followed.
Daniel 6:10 "Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before."
How many of us pray 3 times a day? I don't. But Daniel did it under a decree that said he couldn't. Again not a command but as Christians we shouldn't limit ourselves to just following commands. Some may say they pray continually (I Thessalonians 5:17) as if to say they say a little prayer to God several times in an hour as they go about their busy life. Nothing wrong with that but what I'm talking about is taking time out of your day on 3 different occasions to have a conversation with our Father in Heaven. It's not an easy habit to achieve but I plan to start by praying in the morning and then having a prayer walk before I go to bed. Hopefully I'll get that praying in the afternoon part down.
One last final aspect is giving thanks when we pray which is what Daniel 6:10 mentions. When I pray I don't say thanks enough but I should. We all should seeing as how He saved us from our sins.
If we want to have an incredibly deep relationship with God one thing we can do is examine the past of those who did, and Daniel is close to the top of the list.
